MORE FROM MARISSA

Marissa is a dedicated student athlete who has been involved in sports since early childhood. She began swimming competitively at the age of 4 and later discovered her passion for softball in the 6th grade, thanks to a physical education teacher who introduced her to the sport. What began in a local recreation league quickly grew into a deeper commitment, and she soon transitioned to travel ball to further develop her skills and compete at a higher level.

Currently entering her fourth season of travel softball—and second season with the Black Widows—Marissa is the team’s starting third baseman. She is a versatile and coachable player, with additional experience at first base, outfield, and even behind the plate when needed. In 2023, she was honored as a tournament MVP and was invited to participate in the Top 100 All-American Prospect Combine, where she enjoyed the opportunity to play with other top athletes from around the region. Most recently, Marissa was selected to play in the All-Star American Tournament scheduled for August 2025, following a standout performance in which she posted an .800 batting average and a 1.633 OPS.

At Mountain Island Charter School, Marissa has played varsity softball since her freshman year and contributes to the varsity swim team. In 2024, she was named Rookie of the Year for her achievements in the pool. A committed dual-sport athlete, she values discipline, teamwork, and continuous growth in everything she does.

Outside of athletics, Marissa is actively involved in her community. She volunteers each summer as a Vacation Bible School leader and serves as a junior coach during local swim seasons. Last summer, she began working as a private swim instructor, teaching young children how to swim, combining her passion for swimming with a desire to give back.

Marissa enjoys spending time with friends, traveling to the beach, and visiting extended family. Though still exploring her future path, she is currently interested in both nursing and crime scene investigation.
