MARIS CORDOVA
​ Maris Cordova is a proud member of the Class of 2027 at Hickory Ridge High School in Harrisburg, North Carolina. She is a versatile softball player who primarily pitches but also plays outfield and first base. Maris competes at both the high school level and with her travel team, the Coul Oak Black Widows, where she continues to grow as a competitive athlete and teammate. Maris is known for her strong work ethic, composure under pressure, and dedication to constant improvement.

Softball isn’t just a game to me — it’s been a life-shaping journey. This sport has helped mold me into the person I am today by teaching me the value of teamwork, how to lead with humility, and how to keep my composure even when things don’t go my way. It’s taught me mental toughness, accountability, and how to persevere. Through life’s highs and lows, softball has always been there — a constant source of strength, confidence, and purpose.

Academically, I am a straight-A student with a 4.0 GPA and a deep passion for science and animals. I plan to major in Veterinary Medicine and minor in Zoology in college. I currently work as a veterinary technician at Brookdale Animal Hospital, where I’m gaining valuable real-world experience and preparing for a career in animal care. I’m also actively involved in several school and faith-based organizations, including Youth Commission International (YCI), Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and Young Life Christian Ministries. In addition, I volunteer with the Special Olympics, which has helped me grow in compassion, leadership, and service.

As a student-athlete, I strive to lead by example, stay grounded in my faith, and bring energy, focus, and integrity to everything I do. I’m excited to continue growing both on and off the field and am fully committed to competing at the collegiate level while pursuing my academic and career goals.
